If it was easy everyone would do it. George and
I started remodeling the space for the cafe
a year before opening the doors.
Everything is new, walls, plumbing, electricity,
floors. We worked as we could afford.
The beginning idea was to open a coffee shop.
Then we decided to make sandwiches...with help
from my aunt and uncle at Hub Stacey's, then we
decided to have beer and wine. In July we
purchased our liquor license. We have listened
to the ideas of our customers and used our
own ideas to meld the Lillian's cafe into what
we have now. The music here started
happening because of a typo. A local
newspaper wrote that we would have a
jam session on Saturday. A
man came in looking to play, so he played for
me. From then we started
Thursday night jam sessions.
Musicians started coming out of the wood
works. Thursday nights is our longest running
musical night. Musicians come from locally
and different areas to play together. I had no
idea we had so much talent in this area. I
hired Woody Street as our first hired musician,
on Wednesday nights......woody still plays on
Wed...he is awesome. Many musicians have
fell in love with the place. It has a
coffee shop charm with the conveniences of great
food and full bar. Now we have grown into
live music every night and a hopping evening
crowd. We have and are making a place
where people can go to chill out, eat, and hear
some good music. Our customer feel like
they are at home here. The atmosphere here
is like hanging out at the house. If you
come in not knowing anyone, you will know them
all by the time you leave. The staff is a
very tight knit crew. Me, my husband
George Silsbee, or my mother Bobby Warner can be
seen bartending or cooking many nights.
Our bartenders Gracie, Todd, Chris, and Emily
are the best I could ever hope to ask for.
And of course Jeanne, Brittney and Ashley rock
the cooking world with their fine sandwiches. If
night life does tickle your fancy stop by for
breakfast or lunch. We have the best
lattes and cappuccinos around. Come down and
give us a try if you have not yet...we would be
happy to have you,
Kim and George...Lillian's Cafe
