Once you click the link on your Optimist Club page to view the Grits & Bits, it will take you to a NEW WINDOW with a lot of gadgets and controls that will help you display the newsletter in one of 3 ways:

•  SCROLL - using the scrollbar built in to the window on the left and bottom;
   
• BOOK - that will "shrink" the page view somewhat, but allows you to "turn the pages" as in reading a book; and 
   
• SLIDE - like a slideshow presentation.

At first, it may totally confuse some of you, but it is actually pretty simple to navigate . . . the first thing you'll probably notice is a viewing window with its own controls similar to your Windows Explorer screen. Most controls have a java "pop-up" window that appears when you place your mouse-pointer over it, making it easy to understand its function(s).

In the upper-left hand side of the top menu bar are 3 command links: DOWNLOAD, PRINT, & FULLSCREEN. You can click the FULLSCREEN link and it will enlarge the page view some by making the entire viewing pane "full-screen" mode. Some of you may remember in Windows that you can toggle back-and-forth between full-screen mode and normal mode  - where your upper title bar & toolbars are, (using the F11 key). Fullscreen Mode does this. In this mode, by default, the Title & Menu bars disappear or hide until you place your mouse pointer in this area. It will appear until you move your mouse pointer away.

There are also some zoom tools in the lower left-hand corner of the screen, along with the view selector mode mentioned above, and an icon with 4 small squares... that is a thumbnail generator. It will place all 4 pages right next to each other so you can see the entire document at once. Again, they are too small to read in this view - but you can move quickly to any of the pages and double-click on that thumbnail to view that page.

I have tested the print and download links; they do pretty much what they say. Incidentally - the funny-looking marks in the corners of the document are "Crop Marks" that were accidentally left in the document - they will hopefully be gone in the August Issue of Grits & Bits. They will print out in your document - so be advised!

To return to your main Optimist page - simply place your mouse-pointer in the upper right part of the viewing pane until your title/menu bars re-appear, then click the ⊠ button to close that window.
